Job Hunting Myths for Reno Jobs Hunters

Tips and facts about job hunting are some of the most exhaustively written about topics in the world. When you are looking for Reno Jobs, it is highly likely that at some point you will seek out this deep well of knowledge. For every solid fact, however, there are many that are exaggerated or flat out untrue. Here are the some of the most persistent ones, courtesy of Alison Green of U.S. News.

Myth #1: “It's all about the people you know.” This has to be the most talked aoubt one of them all, and it’s been around for a long time. To set the record straight, making contacts in your trade is always a good idea, and it can be helpful. But when it comes down to it all, your skills, experience and, of course, your self presentation.

Myth #2: “Nobody even reads cover letters.” Cover letters aren’t at all irrelevant as many people would like to think they are. A good cover letter can elevate an otherwise pedestrian job application.

Myth #3: “Employers will get back to your ASAP if they are interested.” Don’t be saddened if you don’t hear back from an employer right away; response times can range anywhere from a week to a month (or even longer than that), regardless of their interest level in you.

Myth #4: “Resumes should be one page.” This isn't the standard as it once once. Make your resume relevant and concise, of course, but it's not uncommon to see two or three page resumes.
