Battery Pack Development Group Lead

This role entails growing a team of engineers and technicians dedicated to the design, development, and deployment of battery pack technology.


Supervisory Responsibilities


In this role, supervisory responsibilities will encompass the management of contractors, engineers, and/or technicians with an objective to drive project progression, ensure adherence to timelines, and offer guidance as required.


Duties and Responsibilities

An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.


  • Battery Pack Design: Design specifications for battery packs with sales, marketing, and technical departments.
  • Battery Pack Development: Develop battery pack bill of materials (BOM) and prototype systems.
  • Testing Plan and conduct tests to validate performance, reliability, and safety of battery packs.
  • Battery Pack Assembly: Facilitate electro-mechanical design, testing, and implementation of sheet metal and injection molded parts.
  • Safety Compliance: Support battery system compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations such as UL and ISO standards.
  • Vendor Relations: Maintain vendor relations and communicate status of relationship with internal stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as Android/iOS, Sales, Marketing, and Operations.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support to end-users, diagnose, and resolve issues reported in production environments.



Required Skills and Abilities

The following skills and abilities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.


  • Bachelor s engineering degree in electrical, mechanical, or related STEM field with 5-7 years of experience OR
  • Master s engineering degree in electrical, mechanical, or related STEM field with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks or a related CAD software package.
  • Demonstrated 2-3 years of experience managing multiple projects with 3-5 team members.
  • Demonstrated 2-3 years of experience in project management (planning, resource allocation, execution, stakeholder engagement, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders (executives, sales, marketing, operations, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills to support project management and development activities.



Desired Skills and Abilities


  • Previous experience in battery system management and communication in high-voltage applications (ex. EV).
  • Previous experience in system integration (ex. alternator regulators, converters, inverters, solar, etc.).
  • Experience with project management software (ex. Jira, Monday.com, Workday, etc.).
  • Experience in battery pack thermal management and modelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow technical teams and mentor junior employees.



Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The following physical activities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.


  • Able to work on-site in a team environment.
  • May be subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • Prolonged periods standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. throughout the day.
