Description:

Sierra Executive Solutions, Inc. (SES) is a 3rd party search firm recruiting for a Reno, Nevada based non-profit organization's Director of Property Operations. This is an extremely exciting career opportunity --- to be selected to join this start-up operation and be among a great leadership team and in a role with significant growth potential.

Primary Purpose: The Director of Property Operations is responsible for leadership and oversight of all campus operations including goal setting, budget development and overall efficiency of the campus security, maintenance, housekeeping, warehousing, and culinary services. Under the guidance and direct report of the Chief Executive Officer.

The Director of Property Operations will have 4 direct reports: Security Director, Facilities Manager, Housing Manager, and Chef.

Essential Duties/Functions:

  • Oversee work activities and develop staff competence to optimize performance of the operation. This includes campus security, maintenance, warehousing, housekeeping, and culinary services.
  • Forecast and provide short-term and long-term goals and initiatives to be reviewed by the Chief Executive Officer. Communicate departmental strategies with consideration and collaboration or other departments. Routinely evaluate goals and overall trends for continual success and report status on a routine basis.
  • Monitor status of work in progress and inspect completed work; consult with assigned managers and staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise.
  • Identify appropriate staffing, volunteers, and resources needed to accomplish established goals.
  • Manage, direct, and evaluate assigned staff, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and assisting managers with employee performance appraisals, conducting interviews and making hiring recommendations. All in accordance with company policies and employment laws.
  • Develop, maintain, and evaluate campus policies and protocols in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

Work Hours: This is a salaried position that requires flexibility. A typical workweek will be 40 hours, Monday through Friday, but may include weekends as well as opening/closing.

Physical Demands: While this position involves desk & computer work, it also will require being on your feet for extended periods of time. Position may include (car) travel back and forth to venues and lifting of up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work at a fast and efficient pace.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of operational leadership experience, with a focus in Facilities Management to include HVAC and other systems, is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of operational management industry experience similar to Property Operations of a hospital, university, or casino/resort/hotel - experienced in overseeing multiple departments: facilities, security, food & beverage, warehouse and housekeeping. Prior position working as a senior member among executive leadership with a focus on operational management of a "campus" and multiple building site.
  • Requires high level of organization with a strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Proven success with strategic planning, process evaluation/re-engineering, and project management. Ability to build a long-range organizational vision with other members of the executive team.
  • Experience in, and desire to continue to be, a hands-on leader in property operations.
  • Possesses mission-centric passion for organizations that help improve the human condition.
