As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in data center infrastructure, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the seamless operation of our cloud services that customers around the world rely on.

In this role, you will collaborate with diverse teams including software and hardware engineers, supply chain specialists, and operations managers to uphold the highest standards of safety and security while ensuring optimal capacity at the lowest possible cost. Your expertise in data center design and operations will be key as you work with business development teams and colocation vendors to select facilities that meet our operational requirements. You will:

• Conduct thorough site assessments of colocation data centers while aligning with AWS standards.
• Perform risk analysis and availability calculations for vendor-operated data centers to ensure compatibility with AWS needs.
• Influence design and specification standards for AWS colocation products to better serve our business goals.
• Document and investigate any failures in infrastructure and equipment, identifying root causes.
• Ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and municipal codes in partnership with vendors and local agencies.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to validate and optimize the performance of critical systems.
• Analyze utilization and efficiency of critical systems in support of operational goals.
• Travel to various data center sites as needed, with a requirement of up to 50% travel.

In your daily activities, you will engage with a variety of teams involved in data center operations, focusing on tasks that maximize availability and efficiency. Your role may involve project management and relationship-building with stakeholders, as well as hands-on interaction in the field.

Requirements include:

• Engineering degree in Mechanical or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in data center or telecommunications design, operations, and maintenance.

If you have a Master's degree, 8 years of cumulative experience in data center design, or possess a Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) license, we encourage you to apply. Prior project management experience is also a plus.
