A cutting-edge aerospace and defense manufacturer in the Western U.S. is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team of engineers focused on advanced propulsion systems. This is a hybrid, full-time opportunity with relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.
About the Role:
This is a dual-role opportunity combining technical engineering leadership with site-level management responsibilities. You'll lead a team of ~25 engineers working on the design and development of complex rocket motor systems and related aerospace technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
🔹 Serve as the technical lead and site engineering manager, balancing both project responsibilities and team oversight
🔹 Act as the primary site representative to visitors and stakeholders; promote team culture and engineering excellence
🔹 Oversee staffing, coaching, performance reviews, and individual development plans
🔹 Ensure alignment of engineering activities with business objectives, timelines, and program requirements
🔹 Lead proposal efforts—developing technical content, schedules, and cost estimates for new programs
🔹 Manage engineering operations across mechanical design, system integration, test planning, and configuration management
🔹 Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration
Qualifications:
✔ U.S. Citizenship (required for security clearance eligibility)
✔ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master's preferred)
✔ 10–15 years of experience in mechanical/aerospace engineering, including rocket propulsion or high-reliability systems
✔ Proven success leading technical teams of 10+ engineers in a manufacturing or defense environment
✔ Strong experience with DoD projects, proposals, Earned Value Management (EVM), and system lifecycle support
✔ Ability to travel up to 10%

Experience with rocket motor design and testing
Familiarity with MBSE tools, configuration management, and systems integration
