Fire Protection Engineer - 12 Months

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform subcontractor FP system new install design reviews.
• Facilitate Commonwealth of VA and local county staff design document reviews.
• Conduct in-process walkdowns to ensure compliance with all relevant codes.
• Support Commonwealth of VA and Louisa County inspector walkdowns.
• Assist in managing North Anna Fire Protection System work backlog, including monitoring system performance, supporting preventive and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting emergent issues.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Science, preferably in fire protection engineering from an accredited university or college.
• Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
• Experience as a fire protection engineer at a major commercial, industrial, or nuclear facility, with a strong background in fire suppression and fire alarm system design.

Nice to Have Skills

• Preference for candidates with nuclear design qualifications; however, candidates with relevant fire protection system design experience and/or current design development qualifications are also considered.
• Experience with Simplex FP systems is a plus.
• Fire protection system troubleshooting experience is desirable.
• Possession or eligibility for the Grade of Professional Member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE).
