Job Title: Senior Quality Engineer

Department: Quality

Reports To: Manager, Quality Assurance


Job Summary

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality standards for both product development and manufacturing. This role supports cross-functional teams by providing quality engineering expertise to ensure that products meet internal, customer, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement, lead root cause analysis efforts, and support both proactive and reactive quality initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Quality Management & Support

  • Act as a key quality resource for identifying and resolving production issues and process inefficiencies.
  • Represent the Quality Assurance team in product development projects to ensure quality is built into design.
  • Promote and enforce quality standards, inspection processes, test methods, and quality documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process control, quality improvement, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain deep working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards.

Process & Systems Improvement

  • Develop, implement, and refine quality policies, procedures, and testing protocols.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes and root cause analysis.
  • Generate and analyze quality metrics and trend reports to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Oversee internal non-conformance management and participate in external customer/supplier corrective action activities.

Customer & Supplier Interaction

  • Interface with customer and supplier quality representatives to address quality concerns and ensure timely resolution.
  • Review and validate customer purchase orders and contractual requirements for quality provisions.
  • Define and manage supplier quality expectations and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Coordinate and process returned materials, including investigation and resolution of customer complaints.

Audit & Compliance

  • Support and participate in internal audits and assist in preparation for external audits.
  • Help maintain quality system compliance and process certifications.
  • Lead or support quality projects and improvement initiatives that align with business goals.

Training & Leadership

  • Prepare and deliver quality training materials to internal teams.
  • Develop visual standards, quality alerts, and awareness programs to promote a quality culture.
  • Act as a quality leader and mentor, setting high standards for performance and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field required.
  • 6+ years of quality engineering or equivalent experience. Advanced education or certifications may substitute for some experience.
  • Strong knowledge of inspection methods, control techniques, and quality documentation.
  • Minimum of 2 years of GD&T experience or certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year auditor experience required; lead auditor certification preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and quality software applications.
  • Experience applying statistical methods, SPC, and root cause tools.
