Ph.D. Opportunity in Machine Learning and Computational Mechanics for Geostructural Systems

The research group led by Dr. Elnaz Seylabi at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a fully funded Ph.D. position beginning in Fall 2025. This opportunity is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and focuses on developing physics-informed machine learning frameworks for surrogate modeling of geostructural systems.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Computational Mechanics, Earthquake/Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
• Experience with finite element modeling and scientific machine learning
• Strong analytical skills and a demonstrated curiosity for innovative research at the intersection of mechanics and artificial intelligence
