Job Description
The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Business Analyst OR Senior Business Analyst. This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Director of Information and Application Services. The position may be located in Las Vegas or Reno, Nevada.
The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions : two universities, a state college, four community colleges and a research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant challenges and opportunities in serving over 100,000 students and 15,000 employees.
The Business Analyst and the Senior Business Analyst assist NSHE stakeholders in identifying and documenting their business processes and recommend refinements and improvements to those processes. The Business Analyst also provides user support in complex problem analysis and resolution, designs and develops reports and data extracts that support campus business processes, assists in the development of technical specifications that support application customizations / modifications, and assists in quality assurance testing of application customizations / modifications and application upgrades.
The position serves as a bridge between the campus functional and the SCS technical areas, and so the incumbent will have excellent higher education functional knowledge as well as a strong technical background.
STARTING SALARY : Grade C (starting salary range approximately for the Business Analyst : $85,000.00 to $100,000.00 and the Senior Business Analyst : $100,00.00 to $120,000.00; depending on experience). A benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, and retirement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The successful candidate must have earned :
Business Analyst : A Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with three (3) years of experience in business analysis is required. Alternatively, five (5) or more years' direct Higher Education experience with two (2) years of formal education or training in a related field may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Senior Business Analyst : A Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with six (6) years of experience in business analysis is required. Alternatively, ten (10) years of direct Information Technology work and / or supervisory experience in a large corporation or university with two (2) years of formal education or training in a related field may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Experience in higher education is preferred. Additionally, preference may be given to candidates with specific functional and technical expertise depending on SCS's current needs for a particular Business Analyst position. Completed training in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions is strongly desired.
