As a part of the thermal group, you will be part of developing next generation clean energy solutions, accelerating our progress towards a sustainable energy future. You will play a key role in the architecture, design, validation, of Generacs clean energy products, with emphasis on design and validation of innovative thermal solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Architecting, designing, modeling, and validating thermal solutions in ESS/power electronics
  • Building CFD models and instrumented thermal test vehicles to validate models
  • Creating innovative product enabling thermal solutions that balance form and function
  • Optimizing thermal solutions for performance, DFM/DFA, size, acoustics, reliability, cost
  • Providing clear and actionable guidance to engineering teams for detailed design
  • Sizing and selecting components for passive, air, liquid, and 2-phase thermal solutions
  • Interfacing with thermal suppliers for component selection, validation, and integration
  • Partnering with validation & reliability teams to define thermal test parameters
  • Partnering with SW/FW to provide thermal policies for control algorithms

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience working in thermal solutions on power electronics

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge modeling passive-cooling, air cooling, liquid cooling, 2-phase, batteries, solar radiation
  • Knowledge in sizing and selection of fans, radiators, heat sinks, heat pipes, etc.
  • Knowledge with instrumentation and data acquisition methods for thermal validation
  • Knowledge proficiency with Ansys, Flotherm, or Star CCM (or other leading CFD packages)
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
