Description:

As a Data Center Operations Lead at Amazon, you will have the exciting opportunity to manage one of the world's largest Cloud Computing Infrastructure. Each day presents unique and complex challenges, and as a technical leader, you'll innovate solutions to enhance Operations Excellence across all aspects of your role.

We are looking for a proven leader with a track record of managing high-performing teams. Your expertise in refining and developing processes will be critical in optimizing operational excellence. Experience in building and managing Data Centers is essential, along with a strong ability to foster relationships with both internal teams and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop engineering teams, providing technical and leadership expertise to achieve the highest performance standards.
  • Oversee the maintenance of existing Data Centers.
  • Play a key role in the construction and activation of new Data Centers.
  • Continuously improve all processes and procedures.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and management to ensure seamless operations.
  • Ensure compliance with local Health & Safety standards across all Data Centers.
  • Create and maintain performance metrics for our Data Centers, utilizing these metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Assist in implementing best practices in service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management, and capacity management.
About The Team

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of the global AWS infrastructure. We're the backbone that keeps the cloud operational. We support all AWS Data Centers and manage the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems that guarantee reliable customer access to crucial innovations.

Your role will involve tackling some of the most complex problems in operations, supported by a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other essential roles.

Basic Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional/military experience in an IT-related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing technical teams in an on-call environment that supports 24/7 operations.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Networking or Computer Hardware.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of previous Data Center Management experience.
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in behavioral interviewing and hiring practices.
  • Formal project management certifications (e.g., Prince2, PMP, AGILE).
  • Familiarity with AWS products: EC2, EBS, S3, and knowledge of system redundancy including Power feeds, ATS, Server Hardware, RAID, and Network Connectivity.
