POSITION SUMMARY: Performs a variety of work associated with loading and unloading and moving materials. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Receiving • Manually unload trailers. • Receive and inspect incoming materials to determine if materials meet specification. • Count packages that are received. Record actual quantities received. • Inspect shipments for damage, loss, or defects, and notify the Supervisor. • Read case labels accurately. • Palletize case product for put away. • Willing to clean while working and ensure that the trailers and receiving workspace are clean daily before leaving department or shift ending. Shipping • Picking, packaging and shipment of products and materials. • Prepare orders for shipment in accordance with the pick pack and customer requirements and package and ship in accordance with packaging guidelines and accepted methods/practices. • Optimize space and best utilize freight space. • Count, check weigh or measure items for outgoing shipments. • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications for delivery. • Read and understand verbal and written instructions. Additional Responsibilities: • Follow SOPs - standard operating procedures for job tasks. • Follow safety and environmental policies and procedures including use of personal protective equipment. • Performing daily and weekly cleaning according to SOPs PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to Shipping & Receiving Supervisor. Has no functional subordinates REQURIEMENTS: • Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the job, High School diploma and 1 year of experience preferred. • At least two years of SAP ERP experience. • At least two years of forklift experience. • Some knowledge of equipment, methods and procedures used in material handling work; some knowledge of industrial arts, including reading specification sheets • Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment • Ability to work accurately; ability to maintain good hand-eye coordination; ability to maintain good manual dexterity; ability to work safely; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and supervisors; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. • Physical requirements: oEmployee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk or sit for prolonged periods of time. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear oThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
