SUMMARY: The Etch Operator I position is a specialized position in the Secondary Department responsible for the chemical etching process of aluminum die forging products. They may also provide etch support to other departments such as Die Forge, Hand Forge, or QC.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES:
- All functions of a Repair Operator I
- Responsible for the safety, quality, and productivity of the work-center
- Responsible for knowing and achieving daily standard production hours and efficiency goal
- Responsible for knowing and achieving scrap and rework goal
- Perform daily inspection of equipment at work-center and report any equipment downtime or maintenance issues
- Perform safe and proper material handling and stacking of completed work pieces using cranes, pallets, tubs, containers, shrink wrap, and plastic or metal banding
- Automatically or manually operate etch line through series of chemical and rinse baths to wash and remove surface impurities on aluminum forgings for visual inspection, repair, or NDT purposes
- Properly load forgings into etch baskets or racks to fully submerge parts and allow for drainage to provide clean forgings
- Perform quick visual inspection of parts after etch
- May require the manual drying of parts by wiping or compressed air to prevent corrosion
- Apply anti-corrosive oils to prevent corrosion of etched parts
- Clock in/out of jobs in ERP system to record time spent on jobs
- Executes 5S, FOD, Haz Waste procedures on a daily basis
- Participate in daily, monthly, or quarterly audits including but not limited to 5S, FOD, Haz Waste, Safety, Fire, or ISO
- As a key member of Weber Metals, additional responsibilities also include but are not limited to: Demonstrate importance of the Weber Metals Safety Policy to the success of Weber Metals, Demonstrate importance of the Weber Metals Quality Policy to the success of Weber Metals, Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the Weber Metals Environmental Policy, Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the Weber Metals Business Management System, Work in a team environment to meet target dates, Responsible for reporting to work on time, with proper PPE, and being fully engaged for the entire shift, Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must:
Be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements
Meet all the requirements of Repair Operator I
Be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

Education/Experience:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
Minimum 12 months experience as Repair Operator I or equivalent at Weber Metals or similar company
Experience in the forging or metals industry is preferred
