Position Description
The Material Handler transports materials, supplies, and finished products to designated locations and performs other tasks pertinent to the department.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, distribute, and store products as directed in designated, secure locations.
- Transport and load materials, supplies, and finished goods (manually and/or using hand trucks and skids).
- Resolve issues with contractors or vendors when problems arise.
- Prepare and maintain records of materials received and shipped including dates of transactions, locations, and other pertinent information.
- Review shipments for quality and accuracy and review accompanying documents for accuracy.
- Confirm shipping details or special instructions; expedite shipments that affect the manufacturing process schedule.
- Validate, approve, and forward invoices to accounting department.
- Collect and properly dispose of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping; maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Efficient time management skills.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Able to lift up to 55 pounds at a time.
- Wear safety gear (such as goggles and gloves) when handling box cutters or similar tools.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must always be used including safety glasses and safety shoes.
- Safety shoes with composite toe reinforcement required.
