In return, well help you build a career that you can feel passionate about./ppWe are seeking a Veterinary Technician Assistant II for our Safety Assessment site located in Reno, Nevada. The Veterinary Technician Assistant II will be responsible for surgical technical duties, intermediate and advanced surgical procedures. Responsible for assisting the veterinary staff in the documentation and management of all laboratory animal health cases. Also responsible for daily health observations, preventive health care, environmental enrichment and handling and restraint of laboratory animals./ph3Essential Duties and Responsibilities/h3ulliPerform and be proficient in basic veterinary technical skills (i.e. treatments, collection of biological samples, TB tests, veterinary observations, etc)./liliProvide environmental enrichment for laboratory animals according to facility and Federal guidelines./liliPerform animal follow-up observations as required./liliMonitor animal health, visually and by following detailed schedules./liliGenerate animal treatment records and perform, track and schedule follow-ups./liliAssist in keeping inventory and stocking the vet rooms (i.e. drugs and supplies). Assist in organizing and maintaining the vet exam rooms./liliClean animal areas, transports animals and maintains related equipment./liliRecord keeping of required logs./liliObserve animals and reports apparent abnormalities./liliSanitize cages and other related equipment as may be required./liliAdminister basic veterinary treatments to include IM injections, SC., etc./liliPerform routine preventive health care skills including nail/teeth clipping/trimming, ear exams and dental exams./liliMeasure and distribute feed to laboratory animals in accordance with established procedures for facility./liliPerform quarantine and isolation procedures as required./liliPerform duties associated with the receipt, transferring and shipment of animals./liliPerform all other related duties as assigned./li/ulpJob Qualifications:/ppQualifications: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.). 1-2 years related experience in a laboratory animal facility. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. ALAT preferred./ppThe pay range for this position starts at $22.00 USD per hour.
