Forklift Operator

Description:

Forklift/PIT Operator
Location: Sparks
Schedule: Mon-Fri 7am - 3:30 may be required to come in early or work late
Pay: $21.50 + Attendance bonus $1

  • Material Handling:
    Operate forklifts, reach trucks and other industrial vehicles to move goods to and from storage areas, loading docks, and production lines.
  • Loading and Unloading:
    Safely load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and other transport vehicles.
  • Stacking and Storage:
    Stack, store, and locate items in designated areas, ensuring that product rotation and placement are done correctly.
  • Inventory Management:
    Perform quality control checks on incoming and outgoing materials, verify quantities, and maintain accurate records of inventory movement and storage.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    Conduct daily pre-shift inspections of the forklift, perform minor maintenance, and report any equipment defects or malfunctions.

Safety and Compliance
  • Safety Procedures:
    Adhere to all health, safety, and company procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Load Security:
    Ensure that all loads are centered, properly stacked, and securely fastened before being transported.

Additional Duties
  • Warehouse Organization: Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Technology Use: Utilize radio frequency (RF) scanners or other equipment to track inventory and complete paperwork.
  • Communication: Communicate with supervisors and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and an organized environment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Forklift, and reach truck certified
  • Must possess good communication skills as well as basic math and reading skills and good with numbers. Must be able to interact with all bakery personnel.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Should be familiar with basic OSHA safety practices
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, manipulate (pushing, pulling) up to 100 pounds, work at high elevations, in confined areas, in extreme heat and cold and in outside conditions on a regular basis.
  • Must possess the ability to learn how to operate a variety of material handling equipment.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Willing to work in -10 temperature intermittently
  • Perform duties near mechanical hazards and moving objects and in cold storage units.
  • Must be available to work any shift as scheduled.
  • Available to work weekends as scheduled.
  • Required overtime as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift, twist and carry up to 50 pounds and manipulate (pushing, pulling) up to 100 pounds
  • Work at high elevations, in confined areas, in extreme heat and cold and in outside conditions on a regular basis.
  • Physical activities required of this job include, but are not limited to: bending, carrying, climbing, crouching, feeling, finger movement, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, rapid work speed, speaking, reaching, repetitive motions, seeing, sitting, standing, stooping, talking, twisting, walking, and walking on irregular surfaces.
  • Ability to work in cold environments as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • One to three years previous sanitation/janitorial experience suggested.
  • 6 months experience in a food manufacturing facility preferred.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $21.50 - $21.50
