The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 3 for the Northern Nevada International Center (NNIC). This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. The case manager will administer and coordinate wrap-around services for eligible clients for medical, health, employment, education, and other social services as required by federal law with the goal of obtaining client self-sufficiency. Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Refugee Resettlement, the Administrative Assistant 3, Case Manager will lead a resettlement team focused on securing housing for newly arriving refugees. This role involves providing essential core services during the initial 90-day arrival period, facilitating transportation for clients, and effectively communicating with partners within a 100-mile radius to coordinate additional resettlement services.
This position will also represent NNIC professionally in interactions with federal, state, and local agencies, as well as non-profit partners. This position will also document all expenditures, assist the financial team with posting financial transactions, ensure that case files comply with federal regulations, attend trainings and contractual meetings, supervise case aides and other positions, attend staff meetings and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR
One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
A valid Class "C" driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
This position is required to transport clients to appointments related to refugee assistance.

Grade 27
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
