The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting an Administrative Assistant 3 for the Office for Prospective Students (OPS). This position serves as the primary administrative and front-office support for OPS, playing a key role in advancing student recruitment efforts and delivering exceptional customer service to prospective students and their families. The Administrative Assistant 3 provides administrative support related to accounts payable and expenditure tracking, assists with office operations, and offers guidance to the Director of Admissions on admissions-related matters and budgetary considerations. This role also supports the coordination and daily operations of OPS and the Welcome Center, ensuring consistent, professional service across both areas.
Additionally, this position serves as a resource for campus partners by helping interpret admissions and scholarship policies and procedures for school counselors, prospective students, newly admitted students, and their families. The Administrative Assistant 3 helps establish a reliable point of contact for prospective students and parents, while building and maintaining positive working relationships with campus offices and academic units involved in welcoming new students.
Required qualifications include graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Compensation grade is Grade 27. In classified service, salary is in grade and step. The step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
