What to ExpectTesla's Energy Manufacturing Engineering team is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to build and develop "The machine that builds the machine"- crafting revolutionary tools and processes that unlock sustainable abundance. You'll collaborate with dynamic cross-functional teams (Design,Quality, Production, etc.) across the entire product lifecycle, from bold initial concepts and prototype breakthroughs to seamless full-scale production. Together, we'll develop high-quality, efficient manufacturing equipment and processes to produce advanced battery modules for Tesla's power electronics, supporting advancements that expand access to abundant clean energy, evolve industries, and promote a sustainable future. This role involves domestic and international travel as needed for projects.What You'll Do* Develop manufacturing equipment and fixtures to support early-stage prototype builds and medium to high-volume production, collaborating with equipment integrators on design and manufacturing* Determine and procure necessary equipment for all manufacturing processes, while managing suppliers through specification, design, buyoff, and installation* Characterize and validate new equipment and fixtures for introduction to the production floor* Develop new manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and scalability* Determine layout of production workstations, optimizing for product flow, ergonomics, and overall efficiency* Perform process analysis, including DOE, PFMEA, line balancing, capacity modeling/simulation, and DFM input to the design team for process and yield improvements* Create detailed manufacturing instructions to train technicians and line operators on new processes and equipmentWhat You'll Bring* 3+ years' experience developing mechanical and/or electromechanical systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment* Hands-on proficiency with 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D modeling for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA)* Familiarity with conveyance systems, transducer-based fastening (Atlas Copco preferred), robotics (Fanuc or Kuka preferred), adhesive dispensing, laser welding, or automated functional testing* Demonstrated ability to create technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment* Experience in providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Automation (DFA) input* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional abilityCompensation and BenefitsBenefitsAlong with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:* Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction* Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits* Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution* Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA* Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)* 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits* Company paid Basic Life, AD&D* Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period)* Employee Assistance Program* Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays* Back-up childcare and parenting support resources* Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance* Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs* Tesla Babies program* Commuter benefits* Employee discounts and perks programTesla is an Equal Opportunity employer.
