Material Handler - 1st Shift

Eaton's ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking a Material Handler - 1st Shift at our Reno, NV facility! The core hours are 5:45 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. Overtime may exceed these hours and be mandatory at times. The hourly rate for this position is $22.00 per hour. In this function, you will: Operate a forklift to move raw materials, components, supplies, and finished goods. Load and unload trailers. Pick and pull stock for delivery. Organize pallet area in the backyard on regular basis (assist during backyard attendant absence). Organize material storage locations in backyard and inside the building on a regular basis. Complete daily forklift inspection. Primary owner for recycling duties for assigned area (i.e., emptying cardboard bins to the cardboard baler daily, operating cardboard baler, etc.). Troubleshoot and resolve problems as they arise. Keep work areas clean and safe. Supports all facility Continuous Improvement and LEAN initiatives. Maintain 5-S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) throughout shop floor and office areas. Track and sustain all visual management tools such as, but not limited to: layered audits, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) boards, and any additional LEAN tools that are deemed necessary to provide direction, goals and status to the shop floor. Encourage, support, and actively participate in Kaizen improvements and events throughout the facility, department, and area of responsibility. Other various duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications: Minimum of 6 months of previous forklift or material handling experience in a manufacturing or logistics setting. Must possess a valid and current driver's license. Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Reno, NV will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications: 1+ year of previous forklift or material handling experience in a manufacturing or logistics setting.

Skills:

• Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format.
• Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends with little advanced notice.
• Ability to stand on feet continuously during working shift with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Able to regularly lift up to 35 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Occasionally lift more than 35 lbs. with assistance.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment as required by company policy and procedure.
• Ability to work overtime when required.
