PositionRural Carrier Associate (RCA) – Full Time and Part Time.Hours: Variable. RCAs must be available to work on an as needed basis, usually on Saturdays, to cover the absence of the carrier.LocationReno, Sparks, and surrounding areas.SalaryUSD 21.89 per hour, paid bi‑weekly.ApplyApplicants must apply online at www.usps.com/employment using a valid email address for communication about employment opportunities, examinations, interviews, and background checks.QualificationsValid state driver's license with a safe driving record.Minimum two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger vehicles in the U.S. or its territories, or U.S. military installations worldwide.Personal vehicle suitable for use may be required.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSort mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.Receive and sign for accountable mail.Load mail into vehicle.Deliver mail to customers along a prescribed route and regular schedule by a vehicle; collect monies and receipts for accountable mail; pick up mail from customers' roadside boxes.Sell stamps, stamped paper, and money orders; accept C.O.D., registered, certified, and insured mail and parcel post; furnish routine information concerning postal matters and provide requested forms to customers.Return mail collected, undeliverable mail, and submit monies and receipts to post office.Prepare mail for forwarding and maintain records of change of address information.Prepare a daily trip report and maintain a list of the customers on the route.Conduct special surveys when required.Maintain an inventory of stamps and stamped paper as needed.Provide mail security at all times.Employer conducts pre‑employment drug screening and background check.The job is physically demanding. Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Carriers may be required to load and unload trays and containers of mail and parcels weighing as much as 70 pounds.BenefitsThis is a non‑career position that may lead to a career position. RCAs are immediately eligible to enroll in the USPS Health Benefits Plan with a Postal Service premium contribution. After completing one year without a break in service of more than five days, RCAs may also be eligible for health insurance under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHB); dental and vision insurance through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP); flexible spending accounts through FSAFEDS; and long‑term care insurance through the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP).
