This Insurance Verification Representative position is a part time opportunity. The Insurance Verification Representative is responsible for verification of benefits for all hospital patients. Arranges for the efficient and orderly pre-admission of inpatients and outpatients, and appropriate follow up for emergency department admissions. Ensures that the patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer database. Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.
Demonstrates knowledge of Hospital policy related to: emergency preparedness, fire, hazardous materials and waste, medical equipment, safety, security and utilities and understands role and expected level of participation. Utilizes standard precautions; complies with OSHA standards pursuant to blood borne pathogen, tuberculosis and hazardous material and waste; complies with infection control policies including isolation precautions and consistent hand hygiene. Reports safety and risk issues; completes incident reports as appropriate. Employee takes an active role in performance improvement teams that may include NPSG, HCAHPS and core measures or other process improvement activities. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

High school graduate or equivalent Basic knowledge of insurance billing required. Ability to type 40 wpm comprehensive general clerical skills and computer literacy required. Medical terminology required.
