Job OverviewJob: Receiving OperatorShift: 2nd - Monday-Friday (3pm-11:30pm)Location: Reno, NVThe primary role of the Receiving Operator safely and efficiently tests, analyzes, and processes raw ingredients. This process supports the manufacturing of high-quality pet food that meets or exceeds all specifications set by Mars Pet Care US in the amount and schedule required by business needs.What are we looking for?Minimum QualificationsBe 18 years of age or olderHigh School Diploma/ GEDBasic knowledge of personal computersDemonstrated competency in computer and pc software including MS Office and emailMust be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedulesAbility to understand and effectively communicate in the English languageGood basic math, reading and writing skillsGood communication skillsAbility to work in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision and a positive attitudeHigh Level of mechanical aptitude and knowledge, with good skills in troubleshooting and problem solvingDemonstrated ability to work in a team environmentForklift experiencePush Pull Lift experience a plusStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and minimal supervisionGood problem solving and/or troubleshooting skillsWorking knowledge of Safety, Quality and Material Management Systems and proceduresAbility to read and understand the daily production run schedule, and execute to that planAbility to communicate to managers and team members any production, quality/food safety or other business critical information vital to operations and customer servicePhysical RequirementsMust be capable of working at elevated heightsMust not be unusually sensitive to chemicals (contact lenses not recommended)Vision correctable to 20/20Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of timeStanding on a concrete floorWearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform)Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting to 55 lbs.Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust dirt and chemicalsAble to work with minimal supervisionForklift assignments require OSHA certification and getting on and off frequentlyKey ResponsibilitiesSampling of all incoming raw materialsCollect routine ingredient samplesVisually inspect incoming commodities and take appropriate action on issues such as infestation, pests, mold, or any other quality issue.Quality testing (including analytical testing) of all incoming raw materialsFoss Analyzer and lab equipment operationKnow and understand all CCP's, and report any findings of deficiencies to Site Quality ManagerResponsible for communicating and elevating any quality and food safety concerns to site management.Accurately perform Mycotoxin, Vomitoxin, and FFA tests, and communicate results to Quality ManagerReceiving and Quality systems database interfacingInforming QS of all out of specification raw materialsEnsure adherence to all site food safety and security practices (CCP's, seals, load tags, locked caps, etc.)Actively address food safety and quality concerns.Unloading of all incoming raw materials (dries, liquids, meats, minors)Load used pallets on trailers as needed.Major bin strategy coordinationRailcar unloading strategy/Operate Track mobileClean receiving magnetsDump all receiving totesIS regrind tote dumpingHard stock grinding – strategize with batching operatorMaintain a safe and clean work environment to promote associate safety and product integrity/Wet and dry receiving area sanitationOther duties as assignedWhat can you expect from Mars?Work with over 130,000 diverse and talented Associates, all guided by the Five Principles.Join a purpose driven company, where we're striving to build the world we want tomorrow, today.Best-in-class learning and development support from day one, including access to our in-house Mars University.An industry competitive salary and benefits package, including company bonus.The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits.
