Current U.S. Postal Service employees are ineligible to apply.Job DescriptionCity Carrier Assistants deliver and collect mail on foot or by vehicle under varying road and weather conditions in a prescribed area; they maintain customer service with customers and others, and possess general familiarity with postal laws, regulations, products, and procedures commonly used, plus knowledge of the area geography. The position is a 360‑day term with possibility of reappointment and may lead to a career position.Minimum QualificationsTwo (2) years of driving experience.High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum age 18 years.Successful completion and passing score on Postal Service Test 473.Valid Driver's License; DMV printout if selected for hire.Great attention to detail.Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach; handle heavy containers of mail up to 70 pounds.Compliance with strict grooming standards.Compliance with strict accuracy/honesty standards.Customer service skills.Ability to provide I‑9 documentation.Employer conducts pre‑employment drug screening and background check.Job DutiesRoute or case all classes of mail in sequence of delivery along an established route, rearranging and re‑labeling as required.Withdraw mail from the distribution case and prepare it in sequence for efficient delivery independently or by another carrier.Prepare and separate all classes of mail to be carried by truck to relay boxes along route for subsequent delivery.Handle undeliverable mail in accordance with established procedures.Deliver mail along a prescribed route, on foot or by vehicle, on a regular schedule, picking up additional mail from relay boxes as needed.Collect mail from street letter boxes and accept letters from customers; on certain routes may deliver mail that consists exclusively of parcel post, or the collection of mail.#J-18808-Ljbffr
