Job SummaryMaterial Handlers are responsible for efficiently and accurately receiving product and shipping orders, ensuring they are processed, put away, and shipped in a timely and secure manner. Some positions require forklift operation. Associates receive in‑house training for success. Different body mechanics are used, including bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.ResponsibilitiesOrder PickerDrive an order picker to assigned bins, identifying proper items and quantities for all orders.Walk to assigned bins, identifying proper items and quantities for all orders.Ensure that all orders are picked properly in a timely manner with strong attention to detail.Use a scanner to verify and identify products and then load products onto a conveyor belt.Order PrepperIdentify correct pallet size and downsize packaging to minimize shipping costs without sacrificing product quality and ensure the product will be delivered without damage.Prepare pallets for shipment by making sure the order is properly stacked, wrapped, and protected in transit.Operate wrap machines and adjust settings based on pallet size and weight, using different wrapping techniques to make sure the order is secured.Label orders with appropriate stickers.Container UnloaderUnload containers in a timely fashion, within required limitations set by drivers and the company.Confirm item numbers and quantity of orders with high level of detail.Receive and stock inventory to fulfill orders as they are processed to ensure a high level of speed and accuracy.Truck LoaderAccurately identify carrier based off label on package.Move palletized product from non‑con and fast track taping areas to load onto proper designated trucks if needed.Efficiently stack packages into correct trailer based on carrier in an interlocking pattern.Lock out incoming trailers and unlock outgoing trailers.All PositionsSafely operate and maintain warehouse equipment to carry out job duties; adhere to all safety training and Company policies.Adhere to attendance policy by maintaining regular, predictable on‑site attendance.Clearly communicate with manager any issues or concerns that arise regarding work duties.Report any forklift issues to the Team Lead or Manager promptly to ensure they are properly resolved.Meet or exceed the department standards for productivity and accuracy.Maintain a clean work area, including the removal of empty boxes from bins or aisles as needed.Other duties as assigned.Shift SchedulesMonday - Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm.WageStarting wage is $24.00/hr, with potential raises every six months of up to $0.88.Work EnvironmentThe employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.Physical RequirementsWork is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75 lbs.Experience1 year of relevant experience in a distribution environment; receiving and/or inventory experience preferred.EducationThe role does not require a degree.
